I have so much respect and deeply admire the Robertson family. This family is truly the real deal. What you see on their television show is exactly how they are when meeting them in person. They share with the world not just their faith, but also their testimony. Jep and Jessica’s book is no different.
I appreciated how the book was presented. Many books written by a husband and wife often present one partner’s point of view, while the other partner contributes toward the end of the book. In The Good, The Bad, and The Grace of God, each chapter was written by either Jep or Jessica. I found this approach very appealing. I was invited into each of their lives beginning with their childhood until present day.
Their stories immediately drew me in. Their mistakes and praises were heartbreaking and inspiring. Jessica suffered from an eating disorder, financial difficulties and a failed marriage. Jep was molested as a child and struggled with drug and alcohol abuse. Each suffered from more than I had mentioned, but you’ll have to read the book. 🙂
By the sweet and wonderful grace of God, Jessica and Jep met. As they both attended church and Bible study, their faith in God continued to grow. My favorite part of the whole book, aside from their undying faith in Christ, was when Jessica was Baptized by Jep!
This book will make you laugh, especially when Jep and Jessica were playing rummy—my favorite card game! You will cry at the struggles and also at God’s amazing grace! One of the most relatable topics in the book is the struggle with pornography. You can read more about my family’s personal story on pornography HERE. I can totally relate to Jessica’s feelings on this and also on God’s wonderful grace. One can only be healed from such heartache and rejection through Jesus Christ. Clay is like Jep and had to find his own redemption in Christ. Thankfully God loves us through the storms.
When I went to Monroe, Louisiana for the Heart to Home Conference, I was able to spend some time with Jessica and the other Robertson ladies. After my star struck emotions wore off, I realized they are just average people like you and me. However, they have taken their fame from Duck Dynasty and used that platform to share their real stories and testimonies for the Lord. They truly are being the hands and feet of Jesus by going out into all the world.

I know how much easier it is to relate to someone else if you feel they have had similar circumstances. I can relate to so much in Jep and Jessica’s book. I encourage you to check it out and learn more about the faith of Jep and Jessica Robertson.
I give this book a 5/5!
Now I can’t wait to see them on the Duck Commander Cruise and get my advanced Reader copy signed! 🙂
