So this week I have been busy doing ALOT of canning, with still more to go. I am thankful to have the food to can though. Here are some pictures of what I have been working on…
Shucking corn. My oldest LOVES this and asks to do it. Rarely do I help him. 🙂
I had 24 ears of corn that I fixed in my 21 qt stock pot. It filled it up really good! The other 2 pictures were showing how you can put corn up. I prefer to freeze my corn. You can do it both on the cob and off. I did a bit of both to have variety and for different things. I also eyeballed how much it would take and separated it out into servings for our family. The corn I had was Peaches and Cream, it has a wonderful flavor! A family favorite!
Bread and Butter Pickles…they are so good!
All hands on deck! Every child helped including the youngest with stringing beans. I have a picture of my middle one but didn’t think about the fact until after I took it, he didn’t have pants on so I won’t post it:).
This is a SMALL stash of what I have canned this week! I have more to finish too! 🙂
This is my apron I wear when working in my kitchen. I had it when I was much heavier, I really need a smaller one BUT it works. It is styled to go around my clothes and it really works. When I am cooking, cleaning, and canning this apron really helps protect my clothing.
All the hard work above is worth the work. I am grateful for the bounty that God has blessed us with. I am grateful for the work because if we had no food, we would have no work. It also makes me feel so good knowing my family is eating healthy, homemade food without all that junk in it.
So from my house to yours,
I hope you had a blessed Tuesday, I am sorry this is getting up so late today!
