Hard to believe another year has came and almost gone! It all seemed to go by so fast and now here I am planning a New Years Eve party…for teenagers! Y’all….I need sweet tea to get me through this one.
Coming up with snack foods and activities that a teen might enjoy creating for New Years Eve can be pretty tricky! I was wracking my brain coming up with good ideas when suddenly this cute, simple and fun idea came to me. So with trepidation, I started putting it all together….
New Years Even Ball Drop Donuts!
These mouth-watering tasty treats are super easy to make. Like it really doesn’t get any easier than what I am about to show you. Bless all our hearts, after Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas …a teen party?! So I needed easy. Y’all probably do too. lol
Since we are talking about easy here, let me share the best part about this recipe with you….A teenager who has experience in the kitchen would easily be able to make these delectable treats on their own. ON THEIR OWN! Like we can seriously just sit right there with our feet propped up while they do this along.
However, you all also know I am a sucker for family moments. Memories. Times together. I keep seeing the years pass by so fast and I know, I just know this isn’t going to last forever. In three short years my oldest will be 18. Time flies!
So instead of sending the teens to the kitchen, this could be a fun family activity with everyone pitching in to help, especially the younger kids.
Personally, I am a huge fan of kids in the kitchen. Teach them when they are young and they will never depart from it. Passing down culinary skills to these young minds will benefit both you and them in the long run.
For those of us with teenagers that are too cool for us uncool parents, ask if they’d like to invite a couple of friends over to celebrate the New Year. Ball Drop Donuts are sure to be a hit with the cooler, younger crowd as well!
The ingredients are easily found at your local grocery store. If you are feeling extra ambitious, you can also make a few of the ingredients from scratch.
Gather your ingredients. You will need:
- Glazed donut holes (you can buy them or make them)
- Mini Muffins (you can buy them or make them)
- Party Sticks
- Multi-Color Edible Glitter
- Silver and Gold Crystals
I love how incredibly easy it is to buy edible glitter from Amazon!
Step One – Place donut holes in microwave for 10-15 seconds. This will melt the glaze just enough to add your glitter/crystals.
Step Two – Roll donut holes in a mix of glitter and crystals. Once you (or in this case, your children) have the perfect amount of glitter, place in fridge to hardened to pre-microwave form. Usually 20-30 minutes.
Step Three – Sprinkle muffins with glitter and crystals. The younger children love sprinkling glitter on just about everything.
Step Four – Insert party stick through the donut hole and continue sliding the donut down until it reaches the halfway point on the party stick. Repeat until finished.
Step Five – Insert other end of party stick into muffin.
Ta-Da!!! They’re ready to serve!
