It’s time for your kids to go back to school. We are all excited for our kids to get back into a routine and, as parents, we have been counting down the summer days!

We hit up our back to school shopping, which means for us homeschool moms and teachers, our addiction to school supplies can be fed! Crayons, colored pencils, notebooks, markers, posters….Oh my!

MY LATEST VIDEOS

As parents, our back to school shopping mostly consists of the latest trends in school shoes, clothes, back packs, hair do’s, make up, and the list goes on forever – especially with teenagers! You’ve made a list and checked it twice. You have shopped in brick and mortar stores as well as online.

However, there is one item you’re probably forgetting. This is an item you’d rather not have to think about. Unfortunately, this item happens to the be the elephant in the room because you know your child will come home with it.

Most people have had a need for a product like this sometime throughout their lives, especially girls because of their longer, thicker hair. What product am I talking about?

Vamousse

You could be one of the lucky parents who have never had to deal with an itchy, lice infested trauma. Unfortunately, your kids will also be around other kids who could be carrying these itty bitty creatures who multiply at alarming rates. Seriously, don’t forget the Vamousse!

LICE. That word makes me itch just thinking about it! We don’t want to talk about it, but we all go through it or know someone has gone through it at least once, if not yearly. Read on knowing that I am a licensed cosmetologist and want you to be informed about this need for an effective lice remedy. The need for one more back to school item that you will want handy, even if you don’t want it handy, is Vamousse to combat lice!

Head Lice

Head lice is something that pretty much all parents face during a school year, if not more than once. Lice has become one of the second most frequent struggles schools have faced and it affects more than 12 million children a year (ages 3-11). I want to eliminate these myths and help get people educated and learn the best treatment options if you or someone in your home encounters head lice.

As many homes will be gearing up for back to school, be prepared for those phone calls or a letter home that your child or a classmate has head lice. While it isn’t something we plan for, knowing how to tackle a case of head lice right away can eliminate and reduce the risk of these pesky critters from spreading to all members of the household and throughout the school. Now I know that my homeschool moms are ready to close this post because we homeschool. But I urge you to keep reading my sweet friends.

If you presume lice can only be contacted from public or private schooled children, I can’t stress enough how much this presumption is a myth. Lice has a tendency to find their way to activities we don’t normally suspect. Prime spots for catching lice is baseball fields where children share hats and helmets. Another prime spot where your child can pick up lice is at homeschool co-ops and tutorials. Lice is everywhere and even using a coat rack at a public place is an easy way to spread. Be aware of your surroundings and know how to tackle lice before your family finds themselves in an itching frenzy!

What Is Head Lice

Head lice are a parasite that can be found on human heads. It can be passed by head to head contact, clothing, sharing brushes, combs, hats, etc. If you have head lice you will experience itching, sometimes sores on your head, and you can at times feel the bugs crawling. Lice will hatch out of eggs that are secured to your hair. Special treatment is needed to help get rid of the lice in your hair. It will spread through the family if you don’t follow treatments and cleaning.

Performing random head checks even if you hear of rumors of a carrier is the best way to get ahead of the game. Catching it early will help get rid of it. You definitely don’t want to miss the lice and not find it until weeks later and have an absolute mess on your hands.

A Few Facts About Head Lice

  • The baby louse take around 9-12 days to grow into an adult.
  • An adult needs a mate to lay eggs.
  • After 24 hours of finding a female, she will lay her first egg and continue laying them day after day.
  • Head lice will die if they do not have fresh blood supply from your scalp within 2 days.
  • You have to remove all the nits in your hair as well as lice multiple times a day. If the nits are not removed, they will hatch and find a mate and start the laying of eggs and the cycle continues. It can take up to 4-6 weeks before you’re free of lice.
  • The female louse lays anywhere from 5-10 nits (eggs) a day, so it can easily escalate into an infestation if you don’t catch it.

Myths About Head Lice

Lice Only Like Dirty Hair

This is a common myth. Head lice prefer clean hair, as the females can easily attach their eggs to the hair.

Random At Home Treatments

Applying mayonnaise to your hair, Coca-Cola, coconut oil and even vinegar have been said to help treat head lice. I also know a lot of people love to use essential oils too. While these treatments might help in some ways, it will not kill 100% of the lice or nits. The best way to get rid of head lice is treatments like the Vamousse Lice Defense Daily Shampoo. This shampoo is used daily to help kill and stop the itching from head lice. You can also buy the Vamousse Lice Treatment, which is a 15 minute treatment to help kill all the lice and stop the spreading.

Hair Color Kills Lice

This is another common myth. Hair color used to be much more harsh and was known to help kill lice. Now the products are much safer and, unfortunately, will not kill lice.

Best Treatment Options At Home

In my home, I prefer to use natural treatments where I can with my family. You can now buy treatment options to help stop lice in their tracks and are not full of harsh chemicals. You can find safe, non-toxic treatments for your family. One company that I trust to treat lice is Vamousse, because the products are safe and non toxic.

Preventative Treatment

Vamousse Lice Repellent and Nit DefenseThis is a good essential oil spray that you can apply to your child’s hair that helps deter lice and stops them from laying their eggs. It is unscented and great to spray on your child’s hair if you hear the school has an outbreak of lice.

It is an easy treatment that will get rid of lice in a hurry. If you buy the system, this is what you will get:
