Vini. Vidi. Vici. The Latin translation of those three words are, “I came. I saw. I conquered.” That’s exactly how I feel after finally making it to my first Teach Them Diligently conference. I have tried to attend this conference for the past three years, but the Army has had different plans. This year, since we are so close to Nashville and the Army is not interfering, I came and I saw and I finally conquered! LOL 🙂
Don’t mistake this as my first conference. I have been afforded opportunities in the past to attend various local homeschool conferences. However, this is by far the best one that I have ever attended. The Nunnery family who hosts, plans, and coordinates Teach Them Diligently (TTD) does a fantastic job! If you are afforded an opportunity to attend a TTD conference (and the Army doesn’t make alternate plans for you), you will most assuredly not be disappointed. I imagine you’ll relive the moments as a kid in a candy store. At least that’s how I felt. In one word, I feel blessed.
I think TTD is the best planned and most Christ-centered homeschool conference that I have ever witnessed. Their whole focus is on Christ. As an added bonus, I also met some of my fellow “Crew Bloggers” from The OldSchoolHouse Review Crew who were also in attendance!!!
Modestly speaking, when I arrived at the hotel and walked to the registration area, I knew I was in the right place! Have you ever yearned to be surrounded by a ton of like-minded friends? That is exactly the feeling I had walking in Thursday! There were skirts, skirts, and more skirts everywhere! Sigh, it was bliss! LOL 🙂 I’m not turning this into pants vs skirts post. All the ladies I met, regardless of pants or skirts, were dressed very modest! That just never happens, does it? I think when our hearts are so wrapped around Christ, it sure does! I could feel the love of God everywhere. It was amazing!!!
So what did I wear and why?
I had a difficult time picking outfits for several reasons. First, Spring is finally pushing out these cold, dark and dreary Winter days. We have chilly mornings, warmer afternoons, then chilly evenings. Second, at a convention you’re just never sure what the temperature will be inside rooms. This weekend I was in rooms that would give Goldilocks a run for her money. I was in rooms too hot, too cold and just right. So my best advice for a homeschool conference is to dress in layers.
I am sharing my Saturday outfit. You have seen the skirt before, but I did that intentionally. I know it is impossible to have thousands of outfits specifically for one occasion. Personally, I enjoy mixing and matching! This was the first time I had worn all the items below together. I honestly had a lot of fun doing this!
Me at the Plexus booth briefly.
