She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar. She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. Proverbs 31: 13-16
If you have missed any of this series, you can read Part One HERE and Part Two HERE. In preparing for this third part of the series I read over these particular verses a few times and sat back and pondered. Ladies, I know we are busy and some days it seems that we cannot ever get caught up, doesn’t it?
Being an Intentional Wife
So what do these verses mean? What character traits do they display? I think they show a woman who enjoys her work and plans ahead. Plans ahead? Talk about feeling convicted. I admit by nature I am a horrible planner. I would buy a day planner every year with the thought that this would be there year that I would actually stick to planning! I always failed that lol. When we began homeschooling I started out with a curriculum that planned everything for me because I just was NOT good at it! However, over the years God has changed me in that respect. I still struggle, I still fail at times, and there are days that I want to toss the day planner and curl up and read a book, but I have gotten a lot better.
Why did it matter if I improved in this? I could say it was just my personality to be a scatter brained mess…..or I could say this is how God made me!!! 🙂 Part of that is true and part of that will always be me, but God also is not the author of confusion, and not planning correctly in our daily lives can lead to chaos and frustration. My husband has work events that I need to attend and planning has to occur. We homeschool and it can be very chaotic if I don’t plan correctly. Not to mention that there are certain subjects I must cover and without any planing I wouldn’t know if I was coming or going. Mommas, if you struggle with planning, I urge you to pray and ask God to give you strength to become a better planner. Even if you’re not perfect, planning can make your household run much more smooth!
Here are a few areas I use planning:
1. Household chores for both myself and the kids
2. Dr’s appointments and other appointments that we need to attend
3. Homeschool lesson plans
4. Outside activities
5. Blog posts and work at home ideas
8. Menu planning
9. Outfits 🙂
10. Most important…time with my Lord and Savior
Those are just a few of many reasons I plan. I am pretty flexible about life coming up and try to give myself some grace when not everything goes the way I want it to. Sometimes we have to lay our plans aside because the Lord has better ones too.
The Proverbs 31 lady wanted the best for her family so she planned exactly how to accomplish the tasks for her family and also how to provide for her family.
Are you a planner or do you just let things come as they may? I would love to hear from you!
What did I wear?
This picture was from Saturday. We were going to my husbands Tae Kwon Do belt testing and I wanted casual and nice. Also in a modesty group I am in there was a challenge to meet different themes each day in February and this day it was pink! 🙂
I normally wear this skirt in the summer. Its a Maxi skirt but with tights it was comfortable! I also chanced mixing the patterns and colors.
Flexi Clip: Lilla Rose
Sweater: Bought at the NY & Co outlet in Tennessee last year
