This is my last “Modest Monday” post of 2013 as we bid ado to the old and welcome the new. This year has flown by and as I look back on goals I had for the past year, I honestly don’t remember some of them. So for this new year, I feel that blogging them will help me with accountability.
One of the first things I have decided is to pick a theme word to work towards this year. The word that I have chosen is intentional. I feel like this word encompasses where my walk is with the Lord, but also I feel this word is the nudge I need to draw me even closer to the Lord. So many times I have good intentions; I just fail to follow through on them.
Here are some of the things I would like to work towards:
Being an Intentional Blogger: This blog has blessed me with a wonderful ministry and I want to do my best to please God in ALL areas of this ministry.
Being Intentional in my marriage: My husband and I have a wonderful marriage. It isn’t perfect, but it is wonderful:). However, there are many areas that I need to refine. My intentions are to share some of this with you as we embark on the new year.
Being an Intentional mother: Ladies, I share in the same struggles as you probably do – time management, temper, discipline and the list goes on. During the new year, I will be bringing you inside our home and sharing what day-to-day life is like for my family. My intentions is that together, we will share in these struggles and triumphs and together we will grow along side one another.
Being an Intentional Homeschooler: Although I considered adding this to being an intentional mother, I decided against it because, let’s face it, home schooling presents its own trials and tribulations. I am incredibly blessed to be able to home school my kids and I would love to be more intentional in planning out the year.
Being Intentional in our finances: My husband will be retiring from the military soon and we need to be prepared financially when that day comes. I really need to be more intentional with our budget. I will be sharing tips on being frugal and ways to save money.
Being Intentional in my health: I want to dedicate myself to exercising again consistently. Many things this year pulled my attention away from that and it is very important we treat our bodies as a temple and take good care of ourself.
Being an Intentional Christian: How many times do we hear that someone had surgery and we offer up the expected “I will be praying for you” response? What about cooking dinner and dropping it by? What about showing up and visiting a while with a shut in? In 2014, I want to spend more time finding ways to be more intentional in this area. I also want to bring my children into this area of ministry as well. There are so many ways we can bless others and we need to take to heart the importance of being the hands and feet of Jesus.
I will work hard at being intentional on Modesty issues and topics. I also have some fun and wonderful things in store for us here! I have many blog ideas written down and am welcome to more suggestions, too. I am so excited to see what God has in store for me in the new year. God is so good and I am just so excited about learning and growing to be a more intentional Christian.
I will begin this new year as an intentional Christian by reading “How to Manage Your Mouth”. I will be blogging about my growth as I dive into it and I hope you’ll join me by picking up a copy. Also, my children will be a part of this experience through “How to Manage Your Mouth for Kids”. I will be sharing their growth as well.
