Christmas is such a special time of year in our home. The soft glow of twinkling lights filling the neighborhoods; the sounds of Christmas music overtaking the radio; the movies that take me back to my childhood as I share the memories with my children.
The memories created each year will last our family forever. These memories can’t be purchased from a store. Memories like time spent together in the kitchen making batches of Christmas Crinkle Cookies from scratch.
Who doesn’t love a wonderful, delicious, fresh cookie – especially a Christmas cookie? One of the first things I learned to bake was cookies. Not just ordinary cookies, but specifically Christmas cookies. I have such great memories of days past baking cookies in my parent’s old kitchen.
Mom took a lot of time with me, helping me learn to make wonderful cookies from scratch. She taught me how to knead the cookie dough and roll them into perfect balls. Then she allowed me squish the dough into various shapes and sizes. Of course, I wanted my cookies to be the biggest cookies ever.
I still remember the aroma escaping the oven. Next she allowed me to put on the sprinkles. Some cookies had more sprinkles than others and the floor seemed to have the most sprinkles.
Regardless of the mess, the memories with my mom are what I cherish most. Pretty soon she had taken to let me just jump right into cookie baking on my own. Today, I am sharing a delicious recipe for Christmas Crinkle Cookies!
If you have kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, brothers, or sisters, grab them up and have some fun in the kitchen together making these tasty Christmas Crinkle Cookies. I am telling you, they are a blast to make together and your little helpers will treasure these memories for a lifetime.
It’s always better to give than to receive. Another wonderful thing about making Christmas Crinkle Cookies is that they can be shared. While your little helpers are in the kitchen with you, make up a few extra batches and take them to the police station, fire station, send them overseas to our deployed military, retirement communities, shut-ins, teachers, church staff and clergy, nursing homes, homeless, or drop some off at the neighbors.
The littlest things always brighten someone’s day. Sharing is caring and caring is spreading cheer to others during this season. Remembering that the most important things simply cannot be bought in the store, but the memories made in that old kitchen will carry on for generations.

Directions For Making Christmas Crinkle Cookies
Ingredients You will need:
- White Cake Mix (any brand)
- 2 large eggs (room temperature)
- 1/3 cup canola oil
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- Red and Green food coloring
How to Make Christmas Crinkle Cookies:
1) You will want to mix the cake mix, eggs, and oil together in a bowl. Once well incorporated split the dough into two separate bowls.
2) Then color each bowl with food coloring, one with green and the other with red. Use as many drops of the coloring to meet the desired color. I suggest doing a couple drops at a time.
3) Once the dough is colored, refrigerate dough for 30 minutes. This will help give the cookies a light fluffy texture.
4) When dough has chilled, take it out and roll into small balls.
5) Roll the balls in the powdered sugar, I just put the sugar into a small bowl. Coat the balls generously in the sugar.
6) Place on cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes. You will want them to be a little firm, still soft though. Baking time does vary, so just watch closely.
