My husband would say I am a Bible addict. A few years ago, he counted all the Bibles on my bookshelf. I won’t share that number with you, but I’m sure my hubby will if asked. With that said, I have another Bible to share with you! The Faith Builders Bible from Zonderkidz! So why would you and I need another Bible? Hmmm, let me share with you….:)
Raising three boys, Legos are everywhere! My kids are absolute Lego fanatics! I find these little blocks in the laundry, corner of the house, under the couch, beneath the stove, in my car and anywhere else you can think. I find their creations on my book cases, on my bed, in the bathrooms and on the landing. Legos consume my house!
(This was a crafty sign my oldest made. He moved it around during Christmas as a subtle hint for what he wanted. LOL)
They begin by following the directions in the Lego kits. Once they have mastered that (which doesn’t take long), they are constantly building their own creations. More times than not, I will print directions to something new for them to build and create. My younger two especially enjoy this idea. When I saw that the TOS CREW had the opportuinty to review the Faith Builders Bible, I knew I couldn’t pass it up!
When the Bible finally arrived, my oldest and I were excited, while my younger two were ecstatic! Not only could they read God’s Word, they could build Lego creations that help reinforce what they are reading! Double win, right?!
The Faith Builders Bible is a New International reader’s Version, which is a great version for beginner readers. We have used this particular version in homeschool, especially when my kids were learning to read. This version gave them confidence in their reading ability while learning about God. The cover is hardback, which turned out to be a really good thing considering I have three boys! All boys, all the time. LOL! My boys are always respectful with books, especially the Bible, but adding God’s Word to their love of Legos, things can get pretty crazy at times. Did I mention I’m raising three boys?
If you have Lego enthusiasts like me, you will be thoroughly impressed by this Bible. There are 24 full-color illustrated pages. Each of these showcase building projects for your kiddo. The first one is a design that will help kids learn the books of the Bible! It is REALLY cool! We did not do that one because my boys already know the books of the Bible. However, I can almost guarantee they will go back later and build it anyway. 🙂
If you ask my boys what they want to be when they grow up, you’ll probably hear them say police man, fire man, game designer and Lego MasterBuilder. They get better everyday at building something. They have spent hours mastering this technique, especially my oldest! He could probably get a job as a Lego MasterBuilder if he keeps it up! He prefers the Lego sets with thousands of pieces. If your child is similar to mine, the downfall to this Bible are the lack of instructions for the projects. This might be an issue for kids who lack experience with Legos. Then again, it might not. My boys looked at the pictures and easily created what was illustrated. But, it would have been nice to have instructions included, though. This might be an area where you may have to assist and encourage your child until he or she gets the hang of it.
We truly enjoyed this Bible. It gave my boys a lot of ideas and I think it will be something they pull out often to create projects from. It is also something that will assist in applying God’s Word.
