This post is sponsored by Foreign Languages for Kids. All opinions are my own.
When I speak to homeschool parents there is a wide range of responses to using a foreign language. Some parents thing it is very important and start their kids young. Others are intimidated by it so they hold off, or even forgo it all together.
Since my kids are still fairly young, except my teen I decided to look more into this and share with all of you why it is important. I hadn’t really thought about how important this was until we lived on the border.
That was when my kids were able to get first hand experience with Spanish. However, now that we no longer live there and my kids are older, it is important to rethink adding in a curriculum.
In a Rush? Head right on over to: Foreign Languages For Kids!
First of all, now that there are so many amazing foreign language curriculums out there just like Foreign Languages for Kids, if you decide to add in foreign language it shouldn’t be as difficult as it once was.
One of the foreign language curriculums we have looked at is Foreign Language For Kids. I will share more about that in a second. 🙂
Just as with anything new, we can become consumed and make ourselves believe it is more difficult than it really is. Just like when we first began homeschooling. However, there are many programs that help to make it easier-just like with any subject.
Learning a foreign language also opens up a plethora of other learning opportunities! Learning communication skills needed for that language, learning about the country where the language originated or is used opens up so many learning adventures! History, geography, life skills, community studies and more!
We will be a part of Classical Conversations this coming fall and we will be studying latin, however this summer I wanted something to add in for our kids! So I am thrilled to bring you several posts over the next couple months on Foreign Languages For Kids!!!
Foreign Language For Kids is a new curriculum and I have it here, hot off the press and ready to share our learning adventure with all of you! So join us this summer as I share more about adding in a foreign language to your homeschool!
