I know that right now standing with Israel may not be the most politically correct decision. However as Christians we should be more concerned with what is Biblically correct. After all, we are not just citizens here in America. If we are Christian we are citizens of heaven. There are sure to be liberals who tear you apart when you state that you stand with Israel. The next question will be, “Why should we stand with Israel”? Let them defend themselves right? How do you answer? What do you say? Do you know yourself why it is so important as a believer to not turn our backs on Israel?
There are numerous heroes in the Bible that were Jewish. Because of this we can have a true and spiritual relationship with God. Example of many of these Biblical heroes and leaders that were Jewish are Abraham, Daniel, Esther, Moses, Joshua, and David, to just name a few. However, there is one more that should stick out the most. Jesus.
In Bible times the Jewish people recorded and kept God’s Word. Then one day through the blood of Christ and our own birth lineage we were grafted into this wonderful plan and relationship to the Jewish people. God stands with the Jewish people and because of this we should stand with them, too.
In Genesis 12:1-3, we see what God says about the relationship that we should have with the Jewish people.
Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house. To a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed. Genesis 12:1-3
This is repeated again in the book of Numbers.
He bows down, he lies down as a lion; and as a lion, who shall rouse him? “Blessed is he who blesses you, and cursed is he who curses you.” Numbers 24:9
Hold on, that is Old Testament laws right? We are under the New Covenant now so standing with Israel is not important, is it? Why should a New Testament following Christian support Israel?
My friends, those scriptures don’t have a time expiration on them. They didn’t suddenly get tossed to the wind when Jesus came. All the values of Western Civilization and Democracy can be traced back to the Jewish people and their values/beliefs.
Another reason to support Israel is because we have a common enemy – radical Islam. Now I am not talking about all Muslims. I am speaking about radical Islams who want nothing more than to destroy Israel, our Judeo-Christian beliefs and values and our democratic way of life.
Let’s dive into what radical Islam is. The word Islam means submission. Again, the word mean submission, not peace, as they would like the rest of the world to falsely believe. Islam is all about bringing the world into submission to allah. The great commission in Islam means spreading a message, religion, and lifestyle and then taking over society and bringing every one under Islam. Example of this is ISIS. In Islam, religion is not part of life, but life is part of religion. Islam also has no problem expanding its belief at the edge of the sword.
Let me make this clear that the majority of Muslims are not radical but think of it this way. If there are 150-200 million Muslims in the world and 15% are radical, do the math. Look how may that is!
Here is another important fact about radical Islam:
The most devout Muslim has no assurance of forgiveness or atonement for “sins” unless they die on the field of battle.
WOW. Just let that sink in a minute.
How does all this relate to why we should support Israel? These radical muslims are trying to destroy Israel! Israel is God’s chosen people. Christians have assurance of forgiveness by the blood of Christ who gave his life on the cross to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. As Christians NOTHING we do can earn us salvation but radical muslims believe their sins are forgiven by murdering, attacking, killing, all in the name of allah.
Here are some quotes taken from the Qur’an
2:191 And kill them wherever you overtake them and expel them from wherever they have expelled you, and fitnah is worse than killing. And do not fight them at al-Masjid al- Haram until they fight you there. But if they fight you, then kill them. Such is the recompense of the disbelievers.
47:4 So when you meet those who disbelieve [in battle], strike [their] necks until, when you have inflicted slaughter upon them, then secure their bonds, and either [confer] favor afterwards or ransom [them] until the war lays down its burdens. That [is the command]. And if Allah had willed, He could have taken vengeance upon them [Himself], but [He ordered armed struggle] to test some of you by means of others. And those who are killed in the cause of Allah – never will He waste their deeds.
5:33 Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment,
8:12 [Remember] when your Lord inspired to the angels, “I am with you, so strengthen those who have believed. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieved, so strike [them] upon the necks and strike from them every fingertip.”
Do you see where the ideas for these beheadings are deriving from? The terrorist attacks? The nuclear threats?
In the Muslim faith, Muhammad is regarded as a hero. Did you know that Muhammad beheaded 800 men? The texts, traditions, examples, and models were passed down from each generation to kill and risk dying in battle for atonement and forgiveness.
Did you also know that radical Islamists refer to America as “Great Satan” because of how they believe that we exploit immorality? Think about it. When in a muslim country did you have to ask that the Sports Illustrated magazine be moved because of nudity? When in a muslim country do you turn on the TV and see nudity and rape being exploited? Islam mocks Christians for how they dress yet profess to be a Christian nation. I agree that a common thread is noticed when Christians accept with their lips but deny by their lifestyle, but my agreement is to a point, not near the degree radicals will take it to justify their actions.
Muslims are upset with the US because of our wars. They are upset with our presence in a sovereign muslim nation like Mecca. Another reason they hate us?
Our Support of Israel. Israel is a light into the world and where Christians live in fear in much of the middle east. Jewish Christians in Israel are thriving. Did you know that muslims cannot sign a peace treaty with Israel? Christians and Jews bring life, not take it. We sacrifice our lives and not take the lives of others. We try to overcome evil with good. We forgive much.
Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little. Then He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” Luke 7:47-48
By this we know love, because he laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 1 John 3:16
My friends, God’s eternal promise to us was to bless the world through Israel! There are many ways He has already done this.
Salvation for the Jews – For more information and reference go HERE
The declaration that “salvation is from the Jews” suggests our immeasurable debt to Israel. All that we have worth having has come to us through the Jews. Our Bible is a Jewish Book, and our Savior is a Jewish Savior. Let us never forget to pray for God’s chosen people. It is true that Israel, today, is in the place of rejection. Some Jews are being saved and are becoming members of the body of Christ through faith in their Messiah and the huge number in the Christian Community in Israel. Jews are, biblically speaking, the “chosen people of God” and dearly loved by Him. Another reason for Christians to support the nation of Israel is because of the Abrahamic Covenant. We read of God’s promise in Genesis 12:2-3, “I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you” (see also Genesis 27:29; Numbers 24:9).
Lastly, I want to say that Israel is a legal country. Their land was obtained legally and with that they should be able to exist peacefully with secure boarders. They shouldn’t have to live in constant fear of attacks from extremists who want the whole country wiped off the map. We as Christians should be praying for Israel, its leaders, and for the Jewish people.
I will leave you with this article on 12 Reasons Why Christians Should Support Israel.
