While I love our patriotic holidays from the Summer, there is just something comforting about this time of year! Fall is one of my favorite seasons! The cooling temperatures, cool breezes, changing of the colors, autumn meals and autumn deserts.
When I think of Autumn, I think of hot cocoa, warm pies, crackling fires in the fireplace, date nights and heavy blankets. Another special treat during this season is candies. Soft candies, hard candies, caramel, chocolate, and the list goes on.
On the other hand, if you asked my husband why he liked Fall, he would excitedly proclaim college football. Specifically the buckeyes. It’s a give and take with this season. He watches football while the treats I enjoy making this time of year. He also enjoys this time of year because he’s a cold weather type of guy. And he loves hot chocolate!
I don’t know about you, but fall is the only time of the year I have a taste for candy corn. I think my kids are the same way! They never ask for candy corn until they start seeing fall colors and pumpkins everywhere! Of course, it also helps when candy corn lines the shelves in every store from here to there.
I think they do that as a test of willpower. Willpower for us parents to say no…lol. Maybe I am the only one that struggles with that, but I just love my kids enjoying fall- candy included.
Candy corn and Fall seem to go hand-in-hand. That’s why I’m extremely excited about this recipe. And it’s just in time for the Fall season! You can make this wonderful treat, put on your hoodie and head out for your favorite fall activity.
This is also another perfect recipe to get those kids in the kitchen with you. Sometimes we just need to ignore the messes that could be made and focus on the memories. <3
