“We see in our mate what our heart knows we need the most. And if it happens that both of us are seeking Christ, the effect is magnified. Our attraction to Christ enhances our attraction to each other.”
I was blessed to attend the viewing of “The Song.” The movie was absolutely wonderful! While attending the viewing, I learned that a devotional for the movie was set to hit book shelves soon! I knew this was something that I needed to have. 🙂
Apparently, the company advertising the devotional knew I wanted it and asked me to review a copy..LOL. All I can say is WOW! I love this devotional!
Here is what amazon says:
THE SONG Couple’s Devotional is a 6-week book for couples that can help awaken love in their marriage. Here are my thoughts:
I can hardly wait for my hubby to return from Korea so that we can go through this devotional together. I think this is a devotional that will bless your marriage regardless if you’re a newlywed or celebrating your 50th anniversary. This devotional is from the creators of the movie “The Song” and I have so much respect for what they did with the movie. After reviewing the devotional, I wish I knew them personally! The devotional is not a lengthy devotional that will overwhelm couples, especially if you live an active lifestyle. However, it is very clear and concise. If you want to work on having a stronger, more Godly marriage, I think this devotional may be for you. I have shared several posts about some of the struggles that Clay and I have been through in our marriage. You can read more about that HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE. We have a pretty great marriage now after figuring out that it just doesn’t work without Christ at the center of every decision we make. I wish we had this devotional back when we were really struggling! So far Clay has not got to see “The Song” because he was in Korea when it came out. However, I am positive the movie, along with this devotional, will be a blessing to him! Even though we have a pretty great marriage now and are SO in love, there is ALWAYS growth in Christ and growth together as a couple.
When Clay was deployed to Iraq, I sent him the good, old-fashioned, paper and pen, spray with perfume, snail mail letters. Included in the letters were scriptures I had hand-written from the Song of Solomon. For those who have read our story, you will remember that his second deployment to Iraq was a huge turning point in our marriage. You just cannot argue with the Word of God, now can you? 🙂 I believe that sending those scriptures to him was a huge help in our marriage. Needless to say, I have a huge soft spot for that particular book of the Bible. This devotional also focuses on scripture from the Song of Solomon. Watching “The Song” and going through this devotional, I am reminded that romance is a God idea. It is important to Awaken Love as Christ designed.
I loved many things Kyle Idleman said, but one that sticks out was his belief that “Marriage is a gift from God that keeps on giving.” Amen!
I give the devotional a 5/5! Check it out! You can order a copy below:
