It’s really wonderful how Allergy friendly Walt Disney World can be. It’s much less complicated now when ordering a safe and delicious meal. Disney has a great reputation for working with guests on special diets. They even have The Best Allergy Friendly Restaurants RIGHT in Disney World.
The Best Allergy Friendly Restaurants in Walt Disney World
If you remember a while back my youngest was diagnosed with a soy allergy. Well, he loves Disney! We love Disney– I mean who doesn’t love Disney? So we wanted to make sure that we had covered all our basis where his, our soy free diet is concerned.
There are allergy menus for over 120 restaurants in Disney World. Even restaurants that don’t have allergy menus are very proactive about creating a positive dining experience.
In most cases you will be able to speak directly with the chef who will go over options with you. They’ll make your menu choices to order based on your specific dietary needs. This can be preferable to pre-formulated allergy friendly options or inferior substitutes for dishes that have been remade and cannot be altered.
When making reservations for any table service restaurant in Disney World, make a note of your dietary needs. They will address them for you upon your arrival. For buffets, you will be given a tour of the buffet after speaking with a chef, who will show you what you should avoid. In some cases, they may offer to make something fresh.
Like with everybody’s dining experience, there are some hits and some misses among the allergy friendly options. Across the landscape of allergy friendly options there are some restaurants that really stand out as fan favorites.
So what ARE the Best Allergy Friendly Restaurants At Disney World?
Raglan Road/D-Luxe Burger
When you visit Disney Springs you will find a variety of allergy friendly options. One of the standouts that receives the most praise from guests with allergies, especially gluten, is Raglan Road. The Irish pub has a dedicated fryer and plenty of allergy friendly alternatives to their main dishes. D-Luxe Burger is also very good about working with allergy requirements and making substitutions when necessary.
Sunshine Seasons/Coral Reef
Epcot is a great place to eat. Rather than single out one World Showcase restaurant, when there are so many different cuisines, I’ll highlight a couple of terrific options in Future World. For quick service, there is nothing better than Sunshine Seasons, where it is very easy to pick and choose for yourself what you can eat. There is also a grill section where they work with any needs you have and are very strict about cross contamination. For a table service experience, I highly recommend Coral Reef. They offer top-notch service and they do have an allergy menu covering 8 common allergens, including shellfish.
Jungle Navigation Co Ltd Skipper Canteen/Columbia Harbor House
These are two of my favorite Magic Kingdom eateries. They are fantastic about allergies and both offer allergy friendly menus. Jungle Navigation Co Ltd Skipper Canteen is an amazing little Jungle Cruise inspired restaurant for more adventurous eaters. Don’t allow allergies get in the way of trying your own exotic foods inspired by Asia, Africa and South America. For a quicker bite, head over to Columbia Harbor House where they will take good care of you. The hospitality and commitment to guest satisfaction here is some of the best I’ve seen in Disney World.
Hollywood Brown Derby/Backlot Express
For a truly remarkable food experience, The Hollywood Brown Derby in Disney’s Hollywood Studios is easily within the top five restaurants on property. They are also well-known for being very allergy friendly. Like Coral Reef, there is an allergy menu and, also like Coral Reef, they are excellent about working with guests to cater to their needs. The food is just another level up and the menu is less focused on the sea. Backlot Express is a very convenient place for a quick bite and they have a very good allergy menu as well.
Yak and Yeti/Flame Tree Barbecue
Unofficially, Animal Kingdom is the best place for allergy friendly food. There is a lot more exotic food here, but there are also burgers, pizza, chicken nuggets, etc., found throughout the park. A lot of these places have limited menus to begin with and therefore the extensiveness of allergy friendly dishes leaves some to be desired.
However, Yak and Yeti is a wonderful place with something for everyone, including those with allergies. Yak and Yeti exemplifies the level of service and care that people expect from Disney regarding allergens. In many cases, you will find something that meets your specific needs, but the kitchen is also very accommodating and happy to prepare anything you need.
For excellent quick service, beating out all other fast food locations within the park, is Flame Tree Barbecue. This place is most known for their ribs and chicken. These have none of the 8 common allergens Disney bases their allergy friendly menus on.
Although a few items won’t work with a gluten allergy, you can easily score a delicious meal here and it’s not too exotic or mundane. It’s absolutely perfect and no reservations are required, which makes it one of the most popular places to eat in Animal Kingdom.
