My mom learned at a young age how to make donuts from scratch. It was always a treat when I was out with my Aunt to run to the local donut shop and get a bakers dozen! While Clay was on active duty, we were stationed in the DC area. We made many many trips to the Amish market and they made them from scratch right there as you watched in amazement and drool. T
he kids loved watching them! My parents would visit and ask to visit the market. Needless to say, my family has a weak spot for the yummy sugary goodness of donuts! How does the Air Fryer fit into all this?

Is it possible to combine one of my favorite kitchen gadgets with the sweet savory donut? YES!!! Yes it is! In fact, I am sharing two versions for you. One of the recipes requires making the dough from scratch.
However, if you don’t have time for that, I got you covered! These donuts are equally super tasty using store bought dough. So without delay….
Air Fryer Donuts From Scratch Version
1-1/2 cups lukewarm water
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 envelope active dry yeast
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1-1/4 teaspoons salt
1 cup evaporated milk
7 cups bread flour
1/4 cup shortening
Mix water, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl and let sit for 10 minutes.
In another bowl, beat the eggs, salt and evaporated milk together. Mix egg mixture to the yeast mixture. In a separate bowl, measure out the bread flour. Add 3 cups of the flour to the yeast mixture and stir to combine.
Add the shortening and continue to stir while adding the remaining flour. Remove dough from the bowl, place onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth. Spray a large bowl with nonstick spray.
Put dough into the bowl and cover with plastic wrap or a towel. Let rise in a warm place for at least 2 hours. Can refrigerate at this point or proceed with recipe. Roll the dough out to about 1/4-inch thickness and cut into donut shapes. Preheat air fryer 350 degrees F.
1 can pre-made biscuit dough
1/2 cup sugar
2 Tablespoons cinnamon
2 Tablespoons oil of choice
Open and separate the biscuits.
Stir together the sugar and cinnamon and set aside.
Using a donut cutter, or circle cookie cutter, cut the center out of the biscuits to resemble donuts.
Remove the arm that moves the food around the air fryer (or use the add-on basket, if you have one) and place the oil in the proper spot.
Cook for 5 minutes until golden brown.
Immediately dip the donuts in the cinnamon sugar to coat.
Serve warm or cold.
