I love pork chops! My husband is the pork chop chef in this house. We love his pork chops so much that we call them “Daddy’s Famous Pork Chops.” Before I continue, allow me to provide a disclaimer: I am NOT trying to top my husband’s recipe. Even if I tried, I just couldn’t. It isn’t possible because his pork chops are AMAZING!

However, I wanted to come up with a recipe that allowed me to fix pork chops in the air fryer. I think you will love this one! It is so good! Who knows? Maybe one day I will also share my husband’s recipe with you!

First, if you don’t have an air fryer, let me suggest one for you-

So what do you need to get your pork chops started?

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. of boneless pork chops (about 5 chops)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 egg whites, well beaten
  • 1 cup of potato starch or cornstarch
  • oil mist (avoid cooking spray)
  • sautéed jalapeños and scallions to garnish

Instructions

  1. Season both sides of the pork chops liberally with salt and pepper.
  2. Whisk the egg whites until frothy.
  3. Marinate the seasoned pork chops in whisked egg whites for half an hour to an hour.  Make sure every inch of the chops is covered with the marinade. This is best done in a resealable/Ziploc bag.
  4. When ready to cook, pour the potato or corn starch in a shallow bowl or place. Season it with salt and pepper and mix well.
  5. Take out one pork chop and shake off the excess marinade.
  6. Dredge it in the potato or cornstarch. Make sure it is well covered. Keep it on a wire rack and repeat with the remaining pork chops.
  7. Spray the air fryer basket with oil mist.
  8. Lay the pork chops in a single layer.
  9. Air fry the pork chops at 360F for 6 minutes. Flip and spay with more oil mist and air fry for another 6 minutes ay 360F
  10. To get the gorgeous golden color, air fry at 400 F for another 6 minutes, flipping at halfway.
  11. While the pork chops is being air fried, slice a jalapeños, removing the seeds and the membranes. And a couple of scallions. Heat about a tablespoon of oil and sauté the jalapeños slices and the scallions for a minute.
  12. Pour the sautéed jalapeños and the scallion over the air fried pork chop and serve with salad of choice.

Notes

  1. The garnish of sautéed jalapeños and scallions is absolutely optional, but gives a nice flavor to the pork chops.
