10 Verses About Motherhood
Since the dawn of time, mothers have held a special place in the world. Mothers are those people we can’t live without. Even though I’m grown and a mother myself, my mom is just a phone call away. She has dropped everything and flew across the country when my oldest and I were severely ill while my husband was deployed overseas. She’s always there when I need comfort, encouragement, correction, assistance, or anything else for that matter. Here are a few Bible verses to prove how special motherhood has always been and will remain to be.
Proverbs 31:25-31 – She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
Proverbs 1:8-9 – Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. They are a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.
Isaiah 66:13 – As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.
Psalm 113:9 – He gives the barren woman a home, making her the joyous mother of children. Praise the Lord!
Luke 2:48-52 – When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.” “Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?” But they did not understand what he was saying to them. Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart. And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man. (A mother knows, even in times when children are disobedient, when her children are destined for great things.)
Proverbs 10:1 – A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish son is a sorrow to his mother.
Genesis 3:20 – Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the living. (The start of the importance of mothers.)
1 Timothy 2:15 – But women will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.
Judges 5:7 – Villagers in Israel would not fight; they held back until I, Deborah, arose, until I arose, a mother in Israel.
1 Kings 3:24-27 – Then the king said, “Bring me a sword.” So they brought a sword for the king. He then gave an order: “Cut the living child in two and give half to one and half to the other.” The woman whose son was alive was deeply moved out of love for her son and said to the king, “Please, my lord, give her the living baby! Don’t kill him!” But the other said, “Neither I nor you shall have him. Cut him in two!” Then the king gave his ruling: “Give the living baby to the first woman. Do not kill him; she is his mother.”****
These are just a few verses that prove the importance of mothers and their unconditional love for their families. With Mother’s Day right around the corner, don’t forget to show your mother how much you appreciate everything she has gone through for you because a mother is more important than you will ever fathom.
